Christian Keuschnigg is a full Professor of Economics with a specialization in public economics at the University of St. Gallen. 2012-2014 he served as Director of the Institute for Advanced Studies in Vienna. He is founder and director of the WPZ center for economic policy (Wirtschaftspolitisches Zentrum) based in St. Gallen and Vienna. He holds a doctorate of the University of Innsbruck (1987) and a Venia Docendi in Economic Policy and Public Economics (Habilitation) from the University of Vienna (1995). He was appointed a full professor of public economics at the University of Saar-land, Saarbrücken, in 1997 and joined the University of St. Gallen in 2000. He was also a visiting research professor at the universities of Bonn, Princeton and Oxford.
Professor Keuschnigg is a Research Fellow of CEPR (Centre for Economic Policy Re-search, London), CESifo (Center for Economic Studies and Ifo Institute, Munich), and the Oxford University Centre for Business Taxation. His research and teaching priorities are in the areas of tax reform, economic growth, corporate finance and financial markets, welfare state reform and European integration. He is author of several books and published in leading journals such as American Economic Journal: Economic Policy, Journal of Public Economics, Journal of Economic Growth, Oxford Economic Papers, Journal of International Economics and Economic Policy. In addition to academic research and teaching, he is also very active in policy advice and the public debate.
