Alfons J. Weichenrieder received his doctorate in economics in 1995 from the University of Munich. He has taught in Munich, at Princeton University, and at the University of Vienna before taking up the Chair of Public Finance at Goethe University Frankfurt in October 2002. Since 2010, he has also held a guest professorship at the Vienna University of Economics and Business. He is a member of the Scientific Council at the German Ministry of Finance and an International Research Fellow of the Oxford University Centre for Business Taxation. He is a research professor at Ifo Institute Munich, a CESifo Research Fellow, a member of the Norwegian Center for Taxation (NoCeT), and a member of the Scientific Council of MaTax (Mannheim). He has served as a scientific advisor of the OECD and national governments. Weichenrieder is currently managing editor of the oldest journal in public finance, FinanzArchiv/Public Finance Analysis. His research concentrates on topics in international taxation and on the architecture of fiscal policy in Europe.
