Doctoral Conference 2024

The call for papers has now closed

Researchers are invited to submit a paper for the annual Doctoral Conference held by the Oxford University Centre for Business Taxation on Monday 9 and Tuesday 10 September 2024.

We welcome submissions on any topics related to business taxation in its broadest sense, including papers from economics, law, accounting and other disciplines, as well as interdisciplinary contributions. Preference will be given to current PhD students, but we also encourage early careers researchers within three years of completing their PhD to submit their papers.

The conference offers presenters the opportunity to receive feedback on their research from leading tax scholars in a friendly environment.

There will be a Best Paper Award with a prize of £500.

Submissions can either be completed papers or extended abstracts of work in progress (preferably at least two pages) which must be completed in time for the conference. The deadline for submissions is Monday 3 June 2024. Papers must be submitted using the electronic form. Papers will be selected, and invitations extended, by 8 July 2024.

Accommodation will be provided and paid for by the organiser for the nights of Sunday 8 and Monday 9 September. We have limited funds to reimburse travel costs, and we would like to target our support to participants who are unlikely to be able to attend without such help. If you need financial assistance with travel costs, then please inform us at the time of submitting your paper/abstract, by completing the ‘additional information’ section of the form. Please note, we may not be able to consider requests for financial assistance if they are not made at the time of your paper/abstract’s submission.

This year’s Doctoral Conference convenor is Jawad Shah. Please contact Jawad if you have any questions about the academic content of the meeting. If you have any questions regarding the logistics, please contact the events team.

We look forward to receiving your submission and welcoming you to Oxford.
