CBT Doctoral Conference 2026

Call for Papers

Researchers are invited to submit a paper for the annual Doctoral Conference held by the Oxford University Centre for Business Taxation on Monday 14 and Tuesday 15 September 2026.

We welcome submissions on any topics related to business taxation in its broadest sense, including papers from economics, law, accounting and other disciplines, as well as interdisciplinary contributions. Preference will be given to current PhD students, but we also encourage early careers researchers within three years of completing their PhD to submit their papers.

The conference offers presenters the opportunity to receive feedback in a friendly environment from Niels Johannesen, Centre Director; John Vella, Centre Director (Law); Research Fellows; and Associate Fellows.

There will be a Best Paper Award with a prize of £500.

Submissions can either be completed papers or extended abstracts of work in progress (preferably at least two pages) which must be completed in time for the conference. The deadline for submissions is 23:59 on Monday 1 June 2026. Papers must be submitted using the electronic form. Papers will be selected, and invitations extended, by Friday 17 July 2026.

Accommodation will be provided and paid for by the organiser for the nights of Sunday 7 and Monday 8 September. Reasonable travel costs will be covered for those who indicate that they require financial support. Please indicate the amount of support you require in the 'Additional information' section when you submit your paper. We would like to offer support to participants, who otherwise would be unable to attend, especially those outside Europe.

This year’s Doctoral Conference convenors are Ander Iraizoz and Nicolas Traut. Please contact Ander and Nicolas if you have any questions about the academic content of the meeting. If you have any questions regarding the logistics, please contact the events team.

We look forward to receiving your submission and welcoming you to Oxford.
